A Danish student has been charged with vandalism because he accidently smashed a stone of some unknown value down in Italy.
It is difficult to understand why the school failed to impose precausions which could have protected the students better because Italy is known for its kind of hostile attitude against foreigners.
American exchange students have received increased legal protection due to the Amanda Knox case where an American student was wrongfully jailed for 3 year because some student from United Kingdom was murdered in the house she shared with other exchange students. Odd teories which were made by a prosecutor who was convicted of abuse of his office were the main reason for her time in jail.
It is time for Danish Schools and exchange organizations to do the same. Otherwise they should discontinue students trips to destinations abroad.
This case is close to neglect by the school.
